CAPTURING NATURE AND LANDSCAPES IS MY PASSION
My main interest is photographing the natural world – landscapes, insects, birds, animals. I am also very interested in capturing abstract images and like to experiment with trying to capture the unseen and enjoy looking for faces in images which is called Pareidolia.
For many years I have found so much comfort and solace in spending time in nature. It is a really great way to get grounded and lose yourself in another world and you never know what amazing creatures you might see.
During 2022/2023 I discovered the amazing colours and abstract images that can be captured on the top layer of a drying up creek bed, otherwise known as pond scum..! To bring out the best colours though, it all depends on the time of day where the sunlight hits the surface of the water.
In October 2022 I held my very first exhibition on at Cairns Artists@Work Studio/Gallery. I was also a featured artist in the Visual Arts Association of Far North Qld Newsletter Dec/Jan 2022/2023.
Currently in 2024, I was named as a finalist in the Cairns Art Society’s Annual Awards for my digital photo art called “Dragonfly Dreaming”. My artwork will be on display at the Cairns Art Gallery until the 26th February and is also available for sale for $370. It is a Australian Oak Framed Canvas Print 6′ x 24′ (400 x 600 mm)
